During a late afternoon walking down the boardwalk in Venice Beach, California I got baffle by the prettiness of the beach along the pacific ocean. Knowing that the place got popularized with the Hollywood movie industry and was also a location used by the oil companies during the industrial days. With the influence of the surfing and skateboarding culture, it makes this place quite special.

The photo was taken on the Santa Monica Pier, the one that has a little amusement park on it. With the sunset going down on the right side of the Pier just behind the mountains at the horizon, the timing was perfect to start taking some pictures. Many photos taken on site were amazingly beautiful and it was pretty hard to say which one is better than the other, but this one got definitely my attention, having this vibrant rainbow parasol umbrella next to a mobile souvenir store as a subject matter was creating a bit more character and diversity than the other photos.
I did played with the sky by adding more intensity in the colors and some effect of wind blast. To make it look more like a painting I decided to add three birds that are bit subtle in the sky which created a better sens of depth in the background. At the front I added a painting effect that curves the shapes just a little bit. While doing that I wanted to keep some nice details on the pier, the mobile store and the umbrella. So deminished the intensity of the painting effect on some section of the photo.
The angle of the photo taken on site was right, the time of the day was right, the weather was on point, no high tech camera just a little bit of creative attention in the post production and here we go. I got it printed on a canvas material and streched onto a wooden frame that is roughly 16" x 14".
